OUR CENTRE

There are 5 critical reasons why you should consider Our Centre for physiotherapy and hydrotherapy if your pet has been injured, has had surgery, or has a degenerative condition such as arthritis.

1. Get faster results with rehabilitation

Research in humans has proven that physiotherapy and rehabilitation following injury, surgery, and degenerative conditions, speeds recovery and return to function by reducing pain, swelling and inflammation, building muscle mass and strength, restoring range of motion, and assisting with mobility. People who don't receive rehabilitation, often have ongoing pain, stiffness, weakness and can't return to their previous level of function. Recent research has now shown that physiotherapy and hydrotherapy speeds rehabilitation in our pets also, and is now recommended by most Veterinarians and Specialists.

2. Fully trained professionals

You wouldn't trust your children or family members with non-trained therapists, so why your pet? Our centre is staffed only by qualified professionals including Animal Physiotherapists, Veterinary Nurses and Physiotherapy Assistants. From the pool water, to physiotherapy programs, to obedience training, you can rest assured that our staff will provide the most innovative and up to date approach to the care of your pet. Our staff attend regular continuing education courses and are involved in animal physiotherapy research, to keep at the forefront of treatment.

3. State of the Art Equipment

Dogs In Motion Canine Rehabilitation Centre is the first Physiotherapy centre for dogs in Australia. Opening in June 2002, it has fast developed into a state of the art facility, with the first underwater treadmill for dogs in Australia, installed in 2003, and a second one built in 2005. The centre was established by owner and qualified Animal Physiotherapist Michelle Monk who saw the lack of rehabilitation facilities for our pets in Australia and wanted to provide care, assistance and advice to animals and their owners.

4. Enjoy Yourself and Feel Welcome

At Dogs In Motion, we understand that when your family pet is injured, has been sick, has had surgery, or has a chronic condition, things can be tough for you and your family. Our centre provides a warm caring environment, with friendly staff to make you all feel welcome. Since opening our doors, we have made many lifelong friends along the way, both human and furry ones!

It is a great place to meet other owners, with pets with similar conditions, and swap stories, laughs and sometimes tears. No question is a silly one and we encourage you to spend as much time as you like while you are here, and have a cup of coffee with us. We have regular BBQ's throughout the year for pets and their owners, and can host a pool party for your dog if you so desire. See our 'whats on' section or contact us for more details.

5. Receive a Free Hydrobath on your first visit

Hydro Bath

After injury, surgery or illness, many pets spend time recovering with little movement, meaning most dogs need a bath by the time they come to us! We will throw in a free hydrobath when you visit us for the first time for a physiotherapy or hydrotherapy appointment. We will assist you to get your pet in and out of the bath if they are unable to do so by themselves, and be sure they are safe in the bath.

Please contact us to book your first appointment time.

Many of the surgical procedures common in man, are now available to our pets, but facilities providing rehabilitation and hydrotherapy delivered by qualified Animal Physiotherapists are still rare. We accept that rehabilitation and physiotherapy commonly follow surgery, injury or major illness in humans, so why shouldn't our pets receive the same level of care, to reduce discomfort and speed their recovery?
