Practical Rehabilitation For Vets and Physiotherapists – Part 2
Part 2: is a single day practical component that refines the assessment and treatment techniques with a hands on approach.
Subjects covered include gait assessment, palpation for muscle soreness, trigger points and tautness, spinal palpation, exercises for strengthening, techniques for treatment of muscle injuries and soreness
Participants must have completed Part 1 before attending this course. The next day for Part 2 – the practical component will be Friday 12th October, 2018. This is to be held in Melbourne

Director Dogs In Motion Canine Rehabilitation P/L
Michelle Monk is one of the most experienced small animal physiotherapists in the country. She graduated as a human physiotherapist in 1996, working in a variety of different settings. Michelle began working with small animals in 2002. She opened ‘Dogs In Motion Canine Rehabilitation Centre’, the first physiotherapy and hydrotherapy centre for dogs in July 2002, complete with indoor heated pool. In 2003 she designed and installed the first underwater treadmill for dogs in Australia.
In 2004 she completed her Masters of Animal Studies (Animal Physiotherapy) through the University of Queensland, with her research demonstrating the benefits of early post-operative physiotherapy following cruciate surgery, being published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research.
She now runs the Dogs In Motion Centre from Southpaws in Moorabbin Vic providing rehabilitation to small animal patients with a wide and varied range of conditions. She has a special interest in the application of custom orthotics and prosthetics in small animal patients.
She is actively involved in continuing education in the animal physiotherapy field and teaches course to Physiotherapists, Veterinarians and Veterinary nurses.
